The Mississippi Gulf Coast is proud of the progress that has been made by our tourism product since Hurricane Katrina. The following is a list openings and re-openings during the past six months. A complete list with descriptions of casinos, golf courses, charter fishing, attractions, transportation companies and lodging properties that are open can be found by clicking the appropriate link at the top of our home page, www.gulfcoast.org.

TRANSPORTATION

Allegiant Air, Daily service from Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport to Orlando/Sanford, FL.

American Eagle, Daily service from the Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport to Chicago, IL.

SkyBus, Daily service from the Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport to Columbus, OH.

Myrtle Beach Direct Air, Non-stop jet service between St. Petersburg-Clearwater Airport and Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport every Friday, Sunday, and Wednesday.

SkyBus, Direct service from the Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport to the Greensboro/Winston-Salem/High Point area of North Carolina beginning January 17, 2008.

Bay St Louis/Pass Christian Bridge reopened one lane for two way traffic May 17, 2007 and all lanes opened Friday, January 4, 2008.
The Biloxi/Ocean Springs Bridge is opened one lane for two way traffic November 1, 2007. The completion date for the project is April 2008.

BEACHES

Are open where parking is available. Portable toilets are on the beach for the convenience of visitors. Comfort stations are scheduled to be rebuilt by summer 2008.

PIERS

The pier in Biloxi at the lighthouse and in front of the Mississippi Coast Coliseum & Convention Center will be rebuilt with concrete. Approximate completion summer/fall 2008

The old Biloxi Bay Bridge by the IP that is used for fishing will be rebuilt along with the fishing pier next to the Palace Casino.

The concrete from the old bridges will be used for jetties when they redo the Kuhn Street boat ramp (between the old Grand casino and the old Lady Luck).

HARBORS/MARINAS

September 17, 2007 the City of Biloxi began a 180-day, $6.5 million dredging and re-construction of the Biloxi Small Craft Harbor boat slips. The depth of the Biloxi Small Craft Harbor will be 11 feet and the two main east-west piers will have concrete-encased utility lines and topped with wooden decking.

Hilton Garden Inn Hotel (135 rooms) and Residence Inn by Marriott (108 rooms) has broken ground on Airport Road near the Gulfport-Biloxi Regional Airport. The projects represent a $40 million investment. These properties are expected to open mid-2008.

Gulfport Beachfront Hotel is undergoing a $9.6 million conversion into a Courtyard by Marriott. When building is completed the property will have 148 rooms, 6 suites and 6,000 square feet of meeting space.
