Tower Automotive Company, global designer and producer of vehicle structural components and assemblies, broke ground late last year for a new facility in Meridian, MS. The new $60 million investment will create about 200 jobs. It is a strategic attempt by the Novi, MI-based company to locate closer to its growing customer base in the Southeastern U.S.

The Lauderdale County Board of Supervisors, working with the city of Meridian, is supporting the project with bond financing and economic development grants, totaling more than $9 million. The Mississippi Development Authority is also providing $800,000 in economic development grants.
