Margaritaville Casino & Resort – Harrah’s Entertainment Inc. along with Jimmy Buffett broke ground August 2007 on a 46-acer site south of U.S. Highway 90 (Beach Blvd) in Biloxi where Grand Casino and Casino Magic were located before Hurricane Katrina. The property will include a 798 room hotel, a full-service spa, a pool with tropical landscaping, a casino and retail and meeting space. The project represents an investment of over $700 million in Biloxi’s future and could be completed by early 2010.
Ground was broken in 2007 for the first Margaritaville Casino, which will open in 2010. Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville Casino and Resort, announced by Harrah’s to be built on the site of the old Grand Casino Biloxi and Casino Magic properties.
Harrah’s acquired the Casino Magic Biloxi property next to the Grand Casino Biloxi south of Highway to expand its developable resort site. Harrah’s is investing $1Billion in a new “best of class” casino property.
