People who are visiting Biloxi, Mississippi now will have more gaming options after the recent weather scare.. The Grand Biloxi Casino opened today after waiting on their regulatory approvals. The casino opened at 2:00 P.M..

It comes as good news to the casino that the weather has cooperated. For a while it looked as though Hurricane Gustav would threaten the casino’s reopening, but the weather held out and the casino is now fully operational.

On Friday, the Grand Bear Golf Course will open, and the food and retail stores, as well as the hotel have now opened. Luckily, the casino did not lose out on too many days thanks to the weather. It closed on August 41st, meaning they only lost two days.

The Gulf Coast has already had to deal with casinos closing and severe damage in Hurricane Katrina a few years ago. Another devastating hurricane could have put some of the casinos out of business for good.

Thanks to Katrina, casinos were much more prepared when news of Gustav circulated. Brand Biloxi Casino, Hotel, & Spa is just one of forty casinos that Harrah’s Entertainment owns. They recently received the rights to operate another casino in Kansas.
