MOBILE, Ala. – Austal USA broke ground Thursday on a $254 million expansion of its Mobile shipyard. The modular manufacturing facility promises faster, less expensive ship construction. Bob Browning, Austal chief executive officer, said the new facility will allow Austal to build ships 10 percent faster and trim costs.
